-De Santos named captain; Puran is vice captain
The Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF), yesterday selected their Presidential U19 basketball team to oppose Georgetown second division champions, Republic Bank Nets at the National Sports Hall from 6.30pm today in a supporting game of the GABF Inter-Association 2014 Series which brings together teams from Linden, Georgetown and Berbice.
The second game for the Guyana Under 19 Presidential Team will be next Sunday against Pepsi Sonics’ second division team also billed for the National Sports Hall. This game is scheduled to commence from 8pm and will be the supporting game to the highly anticipated clash between Linden and Georgetown in the Inter-Association 2014 Series.
According to a press release from the GABF only U19 players who participated in training sessions conducted by the GABF will be considered for selection on Guyana National U19 teams. Players who participate in training sessions as part of any regional or national junior squad or team without the approval of the GABF will likely be ineligible to play for any club under the umbrella of the GABF which references clubs affiliated to Georgetown, Linden or Berbice Amateur Basketball Association.
The release stated that the Guyana Under U19 squad will be expanded in June in preparation for the Inter Guiana Games (IGG), the IGG is scheduled to be held in Guyana from July 25-29, 2014. The GABF Presidential U19 team reads:- Quincy De Santos captain, Jonathan Puran, vice-captain, Nathan Saul, Daniel Haynes, Marvin Durant, Daniel Ramlagan, Kelwin Griffith, Malcolm Powdar, Jeremy Jerrick, Tahquille Johnson, Kelvin Yorrick, Somesh Danram. The coach is Naylon Loncke and Herbert Adams his assistant.
