Bishops’ High School crushed St. Rose’s High 51-37 in their under-19 divisional matchup when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) conference championships continued on Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue.
Marvin Duran led the winners with 22 points while Daniel Haynes contributed eight points and nine rebounds. Nathan Saul led the scoring for the losers with 22 points.
In the same division, the University of Guyana blew out Plaisance Academy 41-21.
Jonathan Pooran led the way with 13 points while Reshawn Hooper and Orin Thomas supported with 11 points and eight points and 15 rebounds respectively. Top scoring for the losers with 11 points was Andrew Johnson.
In the final matchup of the division, Brickdam Secondary edged Charlestown Secondary in a low scoring affair 26-21. Rondel Archer and Joshua Lee led the offense for the winners with 10 and nine points correspondingly. Registering a game high 16 points in the loss was Amoniki John.
In the under-16 section, St. Rose’s defeated Marian Academy 41-34 in their Georgetown Conference matchup. Shamar Huntley led the way with 14 points and six rebounds for the winners.
Judah Stephney had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds for Marian Academy. President’s College defeated Plaisance Academy 37-21 in their u-16 East Coast Conference matchup. Cubator Stephens registered a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
He was assisted by Kadeem Peterkin who scored 10 points. Netting eight points in the loss was Delroy Critchlow. In the under-14 division, the Bishops’ High defeated Marian Academy 14-7. Boyd Embleton netted a game high six points in the win.
Jaleel Young led the losers with five points and 12 rebounds while Joshua Brazao grabbed 10 boards.
