Nyron Joseph walked away with the under-19 title, overcoming Benjamin Mekdeci 3-2 when the Guyana Squash Association (GSA) 2014 Woodpecker Products junior national championships concluded at the Georgetown Club yesterday. Joseph would take a 1-0 in their matchup as he won the opening battle 11-9. Mekdeci would quickly respond as he took the second set 11-6. He would then take the lead for the first time in the matchup, claiming the third set 11-9.
Joseph would battle back in the fourth duel, winning by an 11-3 score line. With Mekdeci struggling to maintain his fitness, the experienced Joseph would quickly capitalize, clinching the title by winning the final set 11-7.
