Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) and Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ended their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Hadi’s World Incorporated first division two day match in a draw yesterday. GYO won first innings points early on the second day at the MSC ground, Thomas Land. Resuming the day on 200-7, MSC were dismissed for 209 in 41 overs, with Dinesh Ramjattan picking up 5-50 for GYO. In their second turn at the crease, GYO made 222 all out, with Anthony Ifill (65), Surendra Hiralall (45) and Kwame Crosse (31) being the principal scorers. Bowling for MSC, Steven Jacobs led the way with 3-41 with support from Benedict Prince, Cordell Mars and 11 years old debutant, leg spinner, Wayne Bowlers Jr. who claimed two wickets each.
With a target of 246 needed in 33 overs for victory, MSC opening pair of Shemroy Barrington (64) and Nichosie Barker (54) added 113 runs for the first wicket to give their team a shot of claiming a come from behind victory. However, after their partnership were broken, the GYO’s bowlers made constant inroads into the MSC batting line up as only Kareem Naughton (27) of the other batsmen reached double figures. Dinesh Ramjattan was once again destructive claiming 4-67 with Crosse providing support by picking up two wickets.
