A Craig man was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly cultivating marijuana when he made an appearance before the Providence Magistrate’s Court.
Kenneth Williams, 32, of Lot 7 Craig Sideline Dam, East Bank Demerara, denied that he cultivated cannabis in his yard.
According to Prosecutor Shellon Daniels, on May 11, at about 5.30 pm, police received information and, acting on it, went to Williams’s home.
There, a search was carried out in the defendant’s presence and three plants suspected to be cannabis were found planted in a yellow five-gallon plastic jar.
The jar, the police say, had been cut in half.
Williams was told of the offence and cautioned. The man reportedly admitted to planting the illicit substance for his personal use.
Williams was remanded by Magistrate Leron Daly until June 30 for trial.
