The fourth annual Mackeson Keep Your Five Alive knockout football tourney will officially commence on Saturday at the California Square Tarmac in East Ruimveldt.
Tournament creator and coordinator Kevin Adonis during an invited comment via telephone said “This year is going to be bigger and wider in terms of the reach. Teams we have attracted are coming from as far as Parfaite Harmonie, Plaisance, and Vryheid Lust”.
He further said “We also got Beterverwagting and Bagotstown should be part of this year too. Teams are coming from the rural areas which is a good sign and good look. Of course we are looking to do some different things this year”.
The event which will be six days in duration will be hosted at several venues inclusive of the Albouystown Basketball Court and Cliff Anderson Sports Hall Tarmac. They will be 32 competing teams battling for over $500,000 in cash and prizes.
The competing teams are defending champions Sparta Boss, Albouystown-A, Parfaite Harmonie, Riverview, Texas (East Ruimveldt), Plaisance, Upsetters (West Ruimveldt), Lodge, Laing Avenue, Bent Street, Kitty, West Front Road, King Street Ballers , Charlestown, Bagotstown, North East La Penitence, Albouystown-B, Tiger Bay-A, Vryheid Lust Champs, Leopold Street, Island All-Stars, Alexander Village, Rasville, Castello Housing Scheme, Back Circle, Turkeyen, Beterverwagting, Broad Street, Alberttown, Sophia, California Square and Tiger Bay-B.
