Police could not evade the attack by Transport Sports Club (TSC) as the lawmen lost first innings points at the end of day one of their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ Hadi’s World Incorporated first division match yesterday, at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary.
TSC surpassed Police’s first innings total of 187 in the final over of the day reaching 189-6. Kevin Ross and Devaughn Nandan were the stars of the day for TSC, Ross claimed 6-62 while Nandan took 3-49 and scored 74 not out.
Police who won the toss and opted to bat were bowled out for 187 in 41 overs after the lunch interval. Ross completely mesmerized the Police middle order after the opening pair of Rawle Browne (40) and Royan Fredericks (65) added 74 runs for the first wicket. Parnell London (19) who batted at number four was the only other batsman to offer resistance as Ross and Nandan combined to wreck Police’s batting line up.
In reply TSC reached close of play leading by two runs, thanks to Nandan and Azim Azeez who scored 51. Jonathan Alphonso also contributed to TSC total with a quick-fire 27. Bowling for Police, Randolph Knights has already taken two wickets.
TSC will resume the final day with Nandan and Keon Morris continuing their innings of 74 and 05 runs respectively.
