PhotosShirtBy Stabroek News May 27, 2014 How many people can say they’ve kept a shirt for 48 years? The owner of the shirt in the photo above is 84-year-old Kitty resident, Yuli Gooding. It was made by the now defunct Windsor Shirt Factory that was located on the East Coast Demerara, in commemoration of Guyana’s independence. Gooding said it was bought sometime between the May 22 and May 24, 1966; he cannot remember what the price was. He said he and quite a few others wore their Independence shirts on the first flag raising night. (Photo by Dacia Whaul)Comments
