The Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) an affiliate of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) has named its U19 team to participate in this weekend’s Inter Association series in Linden.
The Berbice and Linden Under 19s will clash on Saturday at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard-court in the Inter-Association 2014 Series.
This is the first time in Guyana’s history that Berbice will be playing in Linden at the Inter-Association level under the umbrella of the GABF.
Following the opening game between Berbice and Linden U19s from 7pm, the Georgetown and Linden women’s teams will meet before the feature clash between Berbice and Linden senior teams.
The Berbice U19 team will come from Neil Wills (captain), Shamar Simon, Sherland Gillis, Ramone Fogenay, Tafawa Daly, Michael King, Osafo Profit, Rayon Emmanuel, Travis Sutton and Shakeel Garnett. The coach is Willon Cameron.
Meanwhile the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) has officially shortlisted 13 players for participation in the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) national try-outs to select the Guyana team for the Caribbean Basketball Championship in the British Virgin Islands.
The players shortlisted are Allister Webster, Shane Webster, Dwayne Roberts, Chris Williams, Lawrence DaCosta, Orin Rose, Sheldon Noel, Amaniki Archibald, Travin Dryden, Keiron Cameron, Alwyn Wilson, Trevor Profit and Stephon Tappin.
The coaches identified for the selection process to the GABF are Abdulla Hamid, Kevin Joseph and Kerwin Abrams.
The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) and the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) are expected to shortlist their batch of players for the national team try-outs shortly.
