Defending champions Sparta Boss got their campaign off to a perfect start, disposing of Kitty by a 2-0 score line when the fourth annual Mackeson Keep Your Five Alive knockout tourney continued on Sunday at the California Square Tarmac, East Ruimveldt.
Sheldon Shepherd opened the scoring for the East La Penitence unit through a second half 14th minute conversion. The lead would be doubled two minutes later as Denis Edwards found the back of the net.
In the fourth fixture, West Front Road defeated Bent Street by a 3-2 margin on penalty kicks following a 0-0 score line at the end of normal time.
The third fixture of the evening witnessed Texas of East Ruimveldt edging East Coast unit Plaisance 3-2 on penalty kicks after regulation time was unable to find a winner with the scores lock at nil-all.
In the second fixture, Castello Housing Scheme earned a walkover victory against East Coast side Victoria Eagles. The opening game of the night saw Island All-Stars defeating Leopold Street on penalty kicks after normal time finished nil-all.
The action continues at the Albouystown Basketball tarmac on Saturday with five fixtures. In the opening matchup, Alexander Village will faceoff with Vryheid’s Lust while Upsetters from West Ruimveldt will match skills with Kings Street Ballers in the second fixture.
In the third matchup Melanie will lock horns with Rasville whilst Charlestown will faceoff with North East La Penitence in the fourth showdown. The final matchup of the evening will witness Albouystown opposing Laing Avenue in an eagerly anticipated fixture.
