Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) edged Linden Amateur Basketball Association (LABA) 71-70 when the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF) Inter-Association tourney continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Sunday.
Defeated in their earlier matchup 55-50, GABA took the lead going into the fourth quarter 50-45 after trailing at halftime 37-33. They would eventually withstand a 25 scoring point quarter by the Linden side to claim the hard-fought win.
Point guard Travis Burnett led the winners with 21 points. He was assisted by Shelroy Thomas, Ryan Stephney, Akeem Kanhai and Jermaine Slater who netted 13, nine, eight and six points correspondingly.
Leading the Linden outfit with a double-double of 18 points and 13 rebounds was centre Dwayne ‘Sugar’ Roberts. Contributing to the offense with 16 and 14 points respectively were Keon Cameron and Shane Webster.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) hard-court when the LABA unit faces off with the Berbice Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) side.
