Fruta Conquerors will face off against Sunburst Camptown in the feature contest of the tripleheader when the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) under-17 league continues tomorrow at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground, Bourda.
Crushing Black Pearl by an 8-0 score line in their previous match-up, the Tucville based side will attempt to continue their unbeaten streak which will require another clinical showing from their trio of Delroy Holligan, Randy Layne and Jaleel Hamilton to power them to victory. The feature match is set for 2pm. Defeated 5-1 by Renaissance FC in their earlier fixture, Sunburst Camptown will be looking to get back on a winning note. They will need an inspired showing from the likes of Azuma Small and Jason Williams if they are to overcome their high-flying adversaries.
Conquerors coach Calvin Allen told Stabroek Sport that preparations are on track. “Preparation has been coming along fine so far. We are focusing on getting the players as strong and fit as possible so they can be able to last the duration of the league because youth tournaments are played on a knock-out format and players are not accustomed to the long format,” he said. “Like always, we expect to come victorious. As usual we have been putting in some quality work with the youngsters and I think they are in a good place. While we are missing some players who are away with the Georgetown team, all in all we are well placed to come out victorious on Saturday.” The second match-up of the tripleheader set for 12pm will see Black Pearl FC facing off against the home side GFC. Meanwhile, in the opening fixture at 10am, Renaissance FC will tackle the Mocha-based outfit Riddim Squad FC.
On Sunday, at the same venue, GFC will take on Santos FC in the opening fixture of the tripleheader at 10am. In the second fixture at 12 noon, BK Western Tigers will battle Black Water FC while Beacons FC will oppose Houston Stars in the final match-up at 2pm.
