Guyana’s Hydrometoer-ological Services were forecasting a large amount of rainfall for Regions Six (south), Eight, Nine and Ten last night, which might continue until tonight a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture said last evening.
It went on to say that coastal regions would also be affected but would experience less rainfall than the hinterland albeit with occasional gusty winds. Flash flood warnings were in effect for flood-prone areas in Regions 1 to 4.
A Spring tide advisory was also in effect, the release said, and residents of coastal, riverain and low-lying areas were advised to take precautions. High tide will be at 05:39 hrs at 2.81metres.
Sea conditions will be rough with waves reaching a height of 2.7 metres in open water.
