A mother is looking for her 4-year-old daughter after turning up empty when she was sent to the Child Care and Protection Agency’s (CCPA) appointed caretaker’s home on May 25, to collect her child.
Denicea Loncke, an employee of Kamboat Chinese Restaurant on Sheriff Street, said that her daughter had been placed into the custody of one Yoann Ram, an employee of National Industrial Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL), who lives at 156 Middle Road, La Penitence.
Loncke said she had sought the assistance of the CCPA in October 2011 because she was unable to provide for her child at that time. She said the CCPA had appointed Ram to take care of her child temporarily, at least until she was able to provide a suitable home and financial sustenance, through the acquisition of a stable job, which she has now done. This was verified by the CCPA, according to Loncke, after officers visited her home at Lot 139 Middle Road, La Penitence and made contact with her job.
It is alleged by Loncke that on May 25, she approached the home of Ram to collect her child after receiving the authorization of the CCPA. She said Ram refused to answer her phone or exit her home. Loncke further stated that she went to the Front Road Police Outpost to acquire assistance to no avail. She said she then returned to the CCPA and received a letter dated May 27 instructing the Ruim-veldt Police to assist her in collecting her child. Loncke alleged that the ranks at the station refused, saying that this was not their matter. Loncke then returned to the CCPA and was told that contact had been made with Police Commissioner (ag) Seelall Persaud and the agency was awaiting word.
This was confirmed when Stabroek News made contact with agency Director Ann Greene.
After two days passed with no word, Loncke, approached Stabroek News in tears. She said she was afraid that she would lose her child whom she hasn’t seen in weeks. Up to yesterday, Loncke had still not been reunited with her child.
