LONDON, CMC-Caribbean powerhouse Jamaica have announced changes to their line up on the hunt for their first win in a quartet of international matches on tour.
Three players are joining the squad while four have returned to their respective clubs as the Reggae Boyz prepare to take on Egypt today.
In their first two matches on their current tour Jamaica conceded a narrow one nil defeat to Switzerland days after a close 2-1 defeat to Serbia.
Norwich City striker Jamar Loza has joined the squad whilst Montego Bay United center forward Dino Williams is due to leave the island Tuesday evening to join hin team mates.
Goalkeeper Ryan Thompson who has represented Jamaica at the Under 20 level and has played in Europe and presently in the North American Soccer League, is enroute to the camp.
In the meantime players, Demar Phillips, Darren Mattocks, Dwayne Miller and Andre Blake had to return to duty with their respective clubs.
Coach Winfried Schafer says his objective is to develop cohesion in the team and build a solid backbone for upcoming tournaments such as the Caribbean Cup and Copa America. “We lost two games against Serbia and Switzerland. But I’m not sad, not at all. We’re now in a development and improvement phase. It would be a waste of time to play against mediocre or even low-level teams just to present you with an easy win,” said Schafer. “We want to become a better team, game by game. We are already preparing for the Caribbean Cup and we take that seriously. So this time it wasn’t about winning, but about achieving a bunch of individual and specific team successes, important steps”. The Reggae Boyz face Egypt at Leyton Orient’s ground in London on Wednesday and will conclude their whistlestop tour against Brazil-bound France in Lille on Sunday.
