Embattled Guyana Football Federation (GFF) President Christopher Matthias said the congress held by several associations on Saturday is illegitimate as it did not conform to the regulations of the GFF constitution.
In an exclusive telephone interview with Stabroek Sport, Matthias said the constitution is quite clear on what is required to convene and govern a congress. “The constitution of the federation is on our website for the world to see. Article 25 is clear as to how an ordinary congress has to be convened and Article 26 is also clear on the agenda for the congress,” he said. “The meeting calling itself an ordinary congress which does not confirm to Article 25 and 26 of the GFF constitution is null and void and the whole world knows that. Whatever meeting that took place over the weekend has nothing to do with the GFF or the development of football.”
