A 38-year-old Berbice father has been taken into police custody for allegedly drugging and then raping his 16-year-old daughter around 12:30 am on Tuesday.
The traumatized teen recently started living at her father’s house and was rudely awakened to find him violating her. She questioned what he was doing and he told her to “shut up before I chop you” with a cutlass that was nearby.
He also held her hands and covered her mouth as he continued the act. After the ordeal she managed to escape and ran almost one mile to her grandmother’s house, trembling and crying. Along the way she became even more terrified when a strange young man asked her where she was going at that hour. She then pretended as though she was asking persons on the phone if they were almost there to pick her up.
She also passed two male security guards in front of a building but was afraid of them as well.
A report was made to the police and the man was taken into custody. The girl was also examined by a doctor who confirmed that she was raped.
She related to relatives that she was having milk and cookies on Monday evening when her father insisted that she stopped drinking the milk.
He then told her to finish a small portion of “black drink” he had in a bottle and she drank it at two intervals.
Shortly after she started to vomit and feel drowsy and went to bed. Relatives suspected that he had laced the soda with drugs.
The girl and an older sister grew up with their grandmother after their parents were separated. Previously, the father had spent four months in jail on affiliation charges after he failed to pay over $600,000.
After he was released he kept blaming girls and their mother for causing him to “sleep on concrete floor.”
On Monday evening the teen was on the phone with her mother who resides overseas and the man took the phone away and told the woman he would “get his satisfaction.”
