Dear Editor,
Dr Walter Rodney was not fully au fait with the intrigues and machinations of politics after he became involved in obtaining devices; he had begun to tread on dangerous ground. Overall, he was wise as an academician.
But, there are times when the wise act imprudently and go rushing in where angels fear to tread.
This militant young man seemed to be self-confident.
Rodney was brave, but discretion is always the better part of valour. Walter was a rising politician and was not versed in the little duplicities and complicities of the game. However, he probably thought that he was safe and was right.
To some degree, Dr Walter Rodney’s death was self-imposed.
Yours faithfully,
George Carrington
