An unidentified man died last night, shortly after he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by a public-spirited citizen who had found him on the Ogle Public Road with several stab wounds to his body.
The man died shortly after 9 pm while doctors were performing surgery. This newspaper understands that he sustained stab wounds in the region of his heart.
Several officers from the Sparendaam Police Station had visited the hospital to get a statement from the man but he died before they were able to do so.
While details are sketchy, Stabroek News understands that the citizen was driving past the area when he saw the man lying on the ground with his bicycle a short distance away and decided to stop and was subsequently told that the man had just been stabbed by another man.
