A half-century from Parmeshwar Chatterpaul steered No 70. Young Stars to the quarter final of the 2014 Elizabeth Styles Under-19 one-day competition after they defeated Skeldon Community Center by 153 runs last weekend.
Chatterpaul top-scored with 60 while Berbice U19 all-rounder Viendra Gooniah and Tameshwar Kumar chipped in with 32 runs each to lead their side to the match-winning 245 in 43 overs. Gooniah came back with his leg-spin to take 3 for 18 from nine overs to help bowl out Skeldon for a modest 92.
In a zone C (Lower Corentyne West) match, Berbice all-rounder Balchand Baldeo tore through the Chesney line up bagging 7-5 as Albion Community Centre team dismissed Chesney for 24 runs in 6.3 overs. Albion won the match in 1.4 overs without losing a wicket cruising to 24 without loss with Adrian Sukwah making a breezy 23 not out.
