Fast-bowler Talim Inshan’s 10-wicket haul last Sunday steered Blairmont Community Centre to an innings and 53-run win over Achievers enabling them to reach the quarter finals of the 2014 Tenelec Inc Under-15 club cricket competition in Berbice.
Playing at the Blairmont Community Development Centre ground in their final Zone A (West Berbice) preliminary match, the home team’s outright win enabled them to end with the maximum 36 points, topping their zone.
Inshan first took 6 for 12 from seven overs to help skittle Achievers out for 26 in their first innings.
Blairmont duly replied with 108 for 5 declared. Inshan then returned to take 4 for 11 from seven overs in the second innings as Achievers fell for 29.
He ended with a match haul of 10 wickets for 23 runs.
In zone C (Lower Corentyne), Rose Hall Town Farfan and Mendes registered an outright victory against Port Mourant to end the preliminary rounds with 30 points to top their zone and at the same time qualify for the quarter finals.
After they scored 127 for 3 declared in their first innings, their left arm spinner Keith Simpson who represented Berbice at the U15 level this year, took 6 for 13 from eight overs. He was supported by off spinner Brandon Corlette who grabbed 4 for 34 to eventually bowl out Port Mourant for 70 in their first innings. Following on they were bowled out for
30 in their second innings with Corlette returning to claim 3 for 5 and end with match figures of 7 for 39.
