Magistrate Faith McGusty yesterday fined Gerald Warde $5,000 after he admitted that a small amount of cannabis found at his home was his.
Although Warde denied having possession of the 2.5 grammes discovered when the police searched his home, he stood by his guilty plea and explained that he did not want to waste the court’s time
Prosecutor Seon Blackman told the court that the substance was found on June 7 in a plastic bag, in the form of leaves, seeds and stems.
When the magistrate inquired about his knowledge of the penalty for the crime, Warde explained that in the interest of being able to care for his children, he would accept the charge and that he also did not wish to waste time. He was subsequently fined.
