Improper waste disposal is putting a strain on the city’s sewerage system and Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) spent over $150M on maintenance last year. As a result, it is now seeking the support of the business community and citizens to address the situation by desisting from dumpling solid waste down drains and by implementing simple systems to ensure the free flow of sewerage and reduce the high cost of fixing disruptions.
