The police today said they have been unable to obtain the medical report from the Georgetown Public Hospital on Junior Thornton, the boy who was allegedly burnt by police at the Sparendaam Police station.
The police press release follows.
Cognizant of an article in the Chronicle of June 12, 2014, which indicated that the file in the Junior Thornton matter, which had allegedly occurred at the Sparendaam Police Station, had been sent to the Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority without the Medical Report, the Guyana Police Force wishes to clarify that so far efforts to obtain the Medical Report from the authorities at the GPHC have been unsuccessful.
Ranks of the Police Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) who investigated the matter have been making continued efforts to acquire a copy of the Medical Report since his discharge from the Hospital. This is as recent as today Monday June 16, 2014, where they were informed to return on Friday June 20, 2014.
