The bodies of a Guyanese woman and her two children were discovered on Monday in an unlocked car parked in the parking lot of a middle school in Hagerstown, Maryland in the United States.
According to an Associated Press report authorities are holding off on publicly identifying the bodies until the relatives are notified.
The woman is said to be 32-years old, the Associated Press said, while CBS reported that her children, both girls, are 6-months and 18-months old.
Captain Paul Kifer of the Hagerstown Police Department is reported as saying that there were no indications of what caused the three deaths.
This is likely to be determined by an autopsy carried out by the state medical examiner’s office in Baltimore.
The bodies were reportedly spotted in a car by an employee of the school late Monday afternoon. The car’s ignition was off and the windows were up even though the temperature at that time was near 90 degrees.
Kiefer told the Associated Press that “surveillance video at a local Wal-Mart showed the woman buying a DVD player about 6 a.m. Monday. Police found a receipt and the player in the car…”
Neither the woman nor her children have known connections to the school which is around three miles from their rented home in the East End, Keifer told the Associated Press.
The father of the children is said to reside in Hagerstown. The two did not share a marital relationship. The woman reportedly moved from West Virginia to Hagerstown recently.
