The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Under-17 limited overs competition will bowl off today with defending champions Essequibo facing Demerara at the Enmore Community Development Centre Ground.
Essequibo finished third and fourth in the GCB Under-19 and Under-15 tournaments, will be looking to once again come out on top.
They will be led Nathan Persaud with Sadiq Mohamed as his deputy.
All-rounder Kemo Paul, who is one of the six U-19 players in the Guyana Amazon Warriors franchise team and left-arm spinner Akini Adams who recently played in the under-19 competition are included in the squad.
Travis Persaud will skipper Demerara whose side comprises several players with previous national experience like Ronaldo Mohamed, Sherfene Rutherford and Ronaldo Renee.
Berbice open their campaign against Essequibo in the second round tomorrow at Wales while arch rivals Demerara will face Berbice in the final round on Saturday at Everest.

Unlike the GCB’S under-19 and under-15 tournaments, there is no President’s XI taking part in this competition. According to Colin Europe the Chairman of the Competitions Committee, it is a norm that the President’s XI is usually excluded from this tournament.
