President of the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) Commander John Flores presented over 50 balls and 10 nets to the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs to jump start the Hinterland Volleyball Programme 2014.
According to a press release, Flores presented the gift to the ministry in keeping with a commitment he made to do so on his appointment in December 2013.
Anil Singh, the Principal Regional Development Officer, said that the gear will be distributed to hinterland communities with a high population and those who show a high level of interest and potential.
He said there was some demand from hinterland communities for sports gear and equipment.
To complement this programme, the GVF also donated the same quantity of balls and nets to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to fast track the Community Volleyball Programme for 2014.
