Guyanese entertainer Lisa Punch is to appear on the US television network ABC’s singing programme `Rising Star’ on Sunday.
Punch, 21, known for her singing here now lives in Brooklyn, New York. According to her ABC profile, Punch has held jobs as a broadcaster, deejay and actress.
She will be among the first set of singers to perform in the 10-week long series which will be hosted by internationally acclaimed singer Josh Groban.
A release from ABC said that `Rising Star’ is different from traditional singing shows as the audience for the first time ever has the final say in real time. During the performances by the singers, the audience votes in real time via an App to decide if the singer will advance. If voting reaches a certain level, the singer moves on.
The first three weeks of the show will showcase approximately 30 acts. The next phases would be the duels where the acts compete against each other. The survivors then return for the quarterfinal and then semifinal.
To vote for their favourite contestants, ABC says that home judges (viewers) can download the Rising Star ABC app through the Apple App Store, Windows Market Place, or the Google Play Store.
The App is essential to participate in the voting process, but it’s totally FREE and easy to use. Just register with your Facebook or Twitter account, and you’re ready to go.
Before each performance, you’ll be asked to check-in, and then when it’s time to vote, swipe BLUE (to the right) to vote YES or RED (to the left) to vote NO. You’ll see the results of the vote in REAL TIME on television – in just seconds, your votes determine whether the wall rises, whether a contestant moves on or goes home.
And IF you give us permission through the app, you might also see your Facebook or Twitter profile picture on the Rising Star wall.
