Linden schools Wisburg Secondary and Wismar/Christianburg Secondary registered victories when the national semi-final round of the Guyana Sports Development Foundation Pepsi/Scotiabank tourney concluded yesterday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground, Linden.
Wismar/Christianburg defeated Georgetown’s North Georgetown Secondary by a 2-0 score line in their male under-15 showdown. Kevin Bare opened the scoring for the Lindeners as he found the back of the net through a fifth minute conversion.
Omar Brewley would seal the win for the Wismar/Christianburg Secondary when he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet compliments of a 32nd minute attempt.
With the win, Wismar/Christianburg Secondary will now face off with Berbice champions Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) in the national finale on June 28 at the Ministry of Education ground from 12:30hrs.
On the distaff side, Wisburg Secondary defeated West Demerara unit Uitvlugt Secondary by an identical score line in their u-17 matchup. Cliffona Hunter opened the scoring for the winners as she broke the early deadlock through a third minute effort.
They would clinch the win in the second period as Kay Williams found the back of the net with a 57th minute strike. Due to their win, Wisburg Secondary will oppose Georgetown champions East Ruimveldt Secondary in the national final from 11:00hrs at the aforementioned venue.
