Popular newspaper vendor Lorna Johnson was yesterday involved in a car accident and was robbed by persons pretending to come to her aid.
Johnson, aged 55, and of Lot 1453 Cummings Park, Sophia sustained injuries to her head and back and is currently hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Her daughter Keshan Johnson told Stabroek News that her mother was driving west along North Road when at the intersection of Alexander Street and North Road a car slammed into her Toyota 212. She said her mother lost consciousness and persons rushed, seemingly to assist her, but instead took the monies she had on her person and her cellular phone.
Public-spirited persons then rushed the woman to the GPHC where she was treated and admitted.
Police are investigating the accident.
