Former Chief Execu-tive Officer (acting) and Finance Director of the Guyana Sugar Corporation, Paul Bhim, has tendered his resignation.
Stabroek News has learnt that GuySuCo’s Chairman and current CEO, Rajendra Singh, will be making an announcement this week after he returns from an overseas trip. Stabroek News was told that Bhim’s resignation was submitted formally just over two weeks ago, however his last day at work is yet to be determined.
This newspaper was told that Bhim will remain in his post up until the end of July. Bhim assumed the position of acting CEO in July 2010, months before then CEO Errol Hanoman’s contract expired.
Bhim remained acting CEO until March of this year when GuySuCo quietly moved in Singh, who still functions as the Chairman to the Board. Bhim’s period as acting CEO was marked by continuing production, financial and labour problems at the corporation. The plight of the troubled Skeldon factory was also another major issue.
Bhim began his career with GuySuCo in 1995. His appointment as Finance Director was at the behest of the board.
