Dear Editor,
One wonders what it would take for the authorities responsible for impounding stray cattle to respond to, and prevent a large herd of cattle and horses from destroying taxpayers’ properties, bridges and fences in the Success and Chateau Margot communities.
At Success village the owner of a large herd of marauding cows allows them to roam the two villages carte blanche on a daily basis. Their ubiquitous roaming is currently part of the landscape of these two erstwhile beautiful and peaceful villages. That herd of cattle is not only causing havoc and destruction, but is even a threat to younger citizens.
In the recent past the kindly and responsible Minister of Home Affairs initiated a successful campaign to impound stray cattle found in Georgetown and surrounding rural villages, but it seems that the owners of these stray cattle must have discovered that the campaign is no longer is in existence and so they let their animals roam free and unattended here.
If the Minister of Home Affairs reads this, could he not consider sending the stray-catchers to these two communities at any time or day as we are sure that government coffers would benefit from some hefty pound fees?
Several complaints were made to the relevant local authority here, and even to the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding this nuisance, but, as with myriad things about governance, the governors love to dress up in the Emperor’s new clothes and pretend that everything is well when it really isn’t. After listening to ratepayers’ concerns about this nuisance, they do nothing to curb it.
Yours faithfully,
