The driver of a Route 42 minibus along with two other passengers are hospitalised following an accident on High Street yesterday involving a Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) vehicle.
Two other persons, Susan De Florimonte, a 49-year-old mother of three and her daughter-in-law Keisha Jones, 23 both of Lot 36 Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara both sustained broken legs while other passengers sustained minor injuries and were treated and sent away, this newspaper was informed.
According to reports, 22-year-old Orwin Sajon of Prospect, East Bank Demerara was driving the minibus along Princes Street, when according to eyewitnesses he attempted to overtake the GT&T vehicle as they approached the turn onto High Street and slammed into the utility pole.
Sajon, a former soldier was admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) following the accident and was being treated for a broken leg and head injuries.
Family members said Sajon is not known to be a wild driver.
No one was seriously injured from the utility vehicle.
