Three days after being injured in a hit and run accident at Columbia, Essequibo Coast, Munera Khan and her husband Danny Latchman were on Tuesday last transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Speaking to Stabroek News, Khan’s sister said that both Khan and Latchman were taken to Georgetown to be hospitalized after being transferred from the Suddie Public Hospital, but only Latchman was admitted as a patient at GPH on Tuesday last.
“My sister had some difficulty when she went to Georgetown Hospital because they told her that they didn’t had any space so she had to stay with relatives and only yesterday [Sunday] she was admitted in the hospital,” she said.
The woman added that Latchman was discharged from the hospital on Sunday after he underwent surgery. “His spine got damaged so he had to do a surgery and it was successful,” she added.
On June 15, Khan and Latchman were visiting her mother at Columbia Village Essequibo Coast when a speeding car slammed into the car they had just entered. The driver of the other car who was said to be under the influence of alcohol fled the scene but was later apprehended by the police.
Khan was admitted as a patient in the Female Surgical Ward at GPHC and was said to be in a stable condition. She said that she has no recollection of the accident. She sustained injuries to her arms which are both broken while her husband sustained injuries to his back.
