The National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA) has delivered on its promise to fix the water pump at Enmore North after several residents had complained about flooding and stagnant water even during times of no rainfall.
The problem which plagued the residents since February this year was reported on by this newspaper on Friday after which the residents indicated that NDIA CEO, Lionel Wordsworth, had promised them to have it rectified as soon as possible. The promise was delivered on yesterday.
Residents say they are grateful for the relief and hope that the pump is maintained regularly so as to prevent this kind of disaster again.
Wordsworth, when asked about the repairs effected and maintenance schedule, said that the problem arose as a result of a mechanical failure with the suction end which has been fully rectified and that maintenance is effected based on the operational hours of the pump. He was unable to provide the exact number of operational hours that need to elapse before maintenance is effected.
