A North-East La Penitence man was discovered dead yesterday after suffering from a seizure mere hours earlier.
Dead is Michael Sutherland, 54, a labourer employed with the St.Stanislaus farm in Sophia. His body was discovered in the farm’s knee-length waters around 1 pm by persons who had been searching for him after he disappeared from where he had been resting.
According to a worker, who asked to remain anonymous, Sutherland reported for work yesterday morning but suffered a seizure about an hour later. He was placed to rest alone in the lunchroom. However, when staffers returned after a lunch break, Sutherland could not be found.
A manhunt was quickly organized and half an hour later the sickly man was discovered face-down in the field’s waters. “I have no idea why he would come out into the field if he was sick,” the worker said. “It’s a bit surprising.”
The man’s sister, Hazel Daniels, revealed that he had been suffering from seizures about five years now. He had been employed with the farm for nine years and is survived by three sisters and a brother.
