An unidentified man found dead in Le Repentir Cemetery yesterday is suspected to have committed suicide, the police say.
According to Police Crime Chief Leslie James, the body of a male of African-Guyanese descent, who appears to be about 35-years-old, was discovered in a sitting position, at the eastern side of the cemetery, by a resident in the area, sometime after 1pm yesterday. James further mentioned that the body bore tattoos of the words “SMILE NOW” and the initial “F.M.,” among others. He added that the unidentified man was clad in a black pants and a green jersey, and sat near a bottle and what is suspected to be vomit.
Police officers were seen at the scene collecting evidence. They eventually left with a brown paper bag filled with items from the scene.
The police are continuing to investigate.
The body is at the Lykens Funeral Home.
