National Communications Network (NCN) yesterday obtained an interim injunction in the High Court against MovieStar restraining it from broadcasting any content from the FIFA 2014 World Cup games.
Chief Executive Officer of NCN Molly Hassan when contacted yesterday said that they were bonded by an agreement between the International Media Content (IMC) and FIFA.
“We are bonded by contract to ensure that there is no piracy. We would have had to act based on the advice from our company lawyers,” Hassan said.
Hassan told Stabroek News that Stabroek TV has the exclusive satellite rights, while E Networks has the exclusive cable rights.
“FIFA sold the rights to IMC and we leased the rights to both Stabroek TV and E Networks,” Hassan said.
