New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) squeaked past Berbice Educational Institute (BEI) by a 2-1 score line when the fourth annual Digicel National Under-18 Knockout Football Championship continued yesterday at the Skeldon ground, Berbice.
Under wet conditions and following a nil-al score line at the end of the opening period, Rayon Emmanuel broke the deadlock for NATI when he found the back of the net in the 53rd minute with a powerful header just outside the far post, after latching onto a cross from a corner kick.
Five minutes later, Duel Hall levelled the score line, slotting home his attempt unchallenged outside the left upright after latching onto a low cross from the right side of the field which evaded the opposing backline.
However, NATI would find the go-ahead winner when Anthony Weekes etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 66th minute with a simple tap home unchallenged inside the penalty box, after the receiving a low cross. Action continues today across five zones with six slated match-ups.
