A Lodge man was yesterday sentenced to 18 months in jail after being found guilty of being in possession of counterfeit $1,000 notes.
Seon Davis, 32, of Lot 3512 D’Urban Street, Lodge first appeared in court on September 3rd, 2013 before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry where he was accused of being in possession of six forged $1,000 notes. Davis, who is already serving a two-year sentence, was found guilty by Magistrate Faith McGusty, who informed him that she believed that the prosecutor had proven the case against him and that his testimony contained a gaping hole. According to her, the prosecutor had proven that the notes were in his possession, that they were fake, and that the combination of circumstances indicated that he was aware of the bogus notes.
