If only by virtue of the fact that they have previously won Wartsila-sponsored tournaments both Vijay Deo and Archbishop Dr. Philbert London will start as favourites to win today’s Wartsila sponsored tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club course.
According to David Mohamad, president of Lusignan Golf Club, he expects keen competition as over 40 golfers will tee-off at 12:30 p.m. when the competition gets underway.
According to a release, Wartsila has a history of great prizes and incentives for players and a great happy-hour session at the end of play.
“But it is the motivation to win that produces the excitement as the players eagerly tee-off. Both Vijay Deo and Archbishop Dr. Philbert London, the winners of the two previous Wartsila tournaments, are registered to compete in this weekend’s tournament,” stated the release.
Deo was the winner of the June 15 Wartsila sponsored tournament while London won last November’s tournament.
“These days it seems the competition is so keen that inclement weather hardly discourages the golfers,” the release added.
Club President Mohamad said:“The course is in good condition. The ground staff is working assiduously to ensure that despite the days of rain, the ground would be in a condition that makes play still refreshing.”
Wartsila representative Arron Fraser said:“Wartsila is pleased to be associated with and to support the LGC, especially because we recognize the golf programme in Guyana is one of the better organized and properly run sports.”
