Guyana’s population as at September 15, 2012, Census Day, stood at 747,884, a marginal reduction of 3,339 from the last official census taken on September 15, 2002.
A preliminary report of the Guyana Population and Housing Census 2012, released this morning at the Guyana Convention Centre, Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, said Georgetown’s population was 191,810, down from 209,992 recorded in 2002. The census counted 372,547 males and 375,337 females, giving an estimated ratio of 99 males for every 100 females in the overall population as against an equal number of females and males in 2002.
