Dear Editor,
I’m concerned about the laws and regulations that the government established but which are not carried out, and to which people are not adhering. One example relates to the Route 44 minibuses between Georgetown and Victoria.
A lot of people work in the city and when it is time to go home the 44 buses take $200 to $500 a head for Melanie, and if you don’t have the money they put you out of the bus. I know there is a minibus fare structure for the East Coast and when you tell the conductors or drivers what amount has been published, they insult you telling you that parts and fuel have gone up.
I know up to Melanie the fare is $120 a seat, can the person of the minibus association please look into this. In addition, these buses put four in a seat and go up through the line top where they know there are no traffic police or police stations. Could the government please look into this urgently or bring back the big buses. Can the government please ask these 44 minibuses to place their fare charts in the buses.
This is not forgetting that many of these bus drivers don’t have documents, often speed and play loud music. When they pass the police stations they turn the music down or off, and afterwards turn it up again.
Yours faithfully,
