(Barbados Nation) Doctors say the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) is facing its worst crisis ever.
And they are worried about the risk it could pose to the health of Barbadians, and the implications it has for their profession.
The Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) is so concerned about the situation that they have summoned an emergency general meeting tomorrow to discuss the acute shortages at the QEH and the steps to be taken to protect both doctors and the public.
The doctors’ concern was heightened after a meeting between Mr Tony Harris, the QEH’s director of medical services, and surgical specialists last Friday when he outlined the state of surgery supplies at the hospital.
Those who attended felt BAMP should hold a meeting with its entire membership to make them aware of the “dire” situation that exists.
