Dynamic Airways has announced the suspension of its flights to New York from next week until August 8 as it seeks to iron out administrative issues and secure a gate slot at the John F Kennedy International Airport in New York.
“This temporary suspension will allow us to secure time slots at JFK airport, organize better ground handling and check in process as well as secure schedule integrity which Dynamic Airways is well known for,” a statement from the airline said, while noting operational difficulties with securing time slots at JFK Airport for July.
The announcement is the latest setback for the new airline, which has had a troubled entry into the local market with numerous problems besetting its inaugural flight from the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri and its subsequent grounding at JFK for a series of violations. As a result, the airline was forced to use alternative airports in Connecticut and New Jersey to transport passengers to Guyana.
The suspension of the flights will begin from July 17 but the company said it will operate flights on July 8, July 11 and July 15 and transport passengers who have already started their travel. It assured that passengers who have booked to travel within the July 17 to August 8 period will be given full refunds in addition to compensatory vouchers which will go towards future ticket purchases with the airline.
“All flights starting from August 8 are not impacted by this change and will be operated as displayed on our website and in our reservation system,” it added, while apologising for the inconvenience.
According to Gerry Gouveia, Chief Executive Officer of local partner Roraima Airways, about 50 persons will be affected by the suspension.
Gouveia stressed that the airline will rebound and that it will be here for the long haul. He said that the glitches experienced added to the process of bettering the airline.
Gouveia recently said that in retrospect the airline moved somewhat hastily to commence operations.
