Ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) are continuing their investigations into Monday’s drug seizures during an operation in the Golden Grove/Diamond, East Bank Demerara area.
Stabroek News was told yesterday that the two persons detained in connection with the discoveries are still is custody assisting with investigations.
CANU had said in a press release that officers first discovered 1,227 kilogrammes or 1.2 tons (2,690 pounds) of “Jamaica” marijuana at a home and one person was taken into custody.
The release said that during the search of another location in the same vicinity, officers searched another home and found 4.2 kilogrammes (9.2 pounds) of cocaine and over $1 million in cash. Another person was taken into custody in connection with that find.
