Defending Georgetown champions St. George’s Secondary defeated Queen’s College 3-1 when the Digicel National Secondary Schools U-18 football tourney continued yesterday at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground.
Joshua Williams broke the early deadlock for the winners as he netted through a 13th minute conversion. Their lead would then be doubled in the 43rd minute as Robby McGloggan found the back of the net. It would then become 3-0 with Williams sealing his brace on either side of halftime through a 65th minute strike. The Camp Street unit would eventually pull one back as Aftab Crandon netted two minutes later.
Over at the Ministry of Education ground, Guyana Industrial Training Centre (GITC) defeated St. Mary’s Secondary by a 3-1 score line. Shane Morris opened the scoring for the winners as he found the back of the net in the 21st minute.
Their lead would be short-lived as Alwin Haynes equalised for St. Mary’s four minutes later. However GITC would retake the lead in the 38th minute as Shamar Myers etched his name on the scorer’s sheet. The win would then be sealed in the 67th minute as Egbert Nedd netted.
