JC Chandisingh Secondary defeated defending national champions Marian Academy 29-26 in their U-19 match-up when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) 9th National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall yesterday.
Kevin Deolall led the Berbicians with figures of 10 points and three rebounds while Kobe Crawford netted seven points and nine rebounds in the low-scoring win. Judah Stephney led the losers with eight points and three rebounds.
Continuing in the same division, Kwakwani Secondary led by a Leonard Primo double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds, blew out St. Rose’s High 68-33. Stanton Rose contributed figures of 13 points, four assists and five rebounds in the win.
Leading St. Rose’s with 16 points was Nathan Saul. The third match-up of the division saw University of Guyana edging Bishops’ High 48-42. Jonathan Pooran led the winners with 14 points, six rebounds and three steals.
He was assisted by Daniel Ramlagan who netted 14 points and six rebounds. Leading the Carmichael Street side with figures of 14 points, three assists and five rebounds was Marvin Durant while Daniel Haynes netted eight points and collected 13 rebounds.
In the final match within the section, St. Stanislaus College edged Mackenzie High 41-37. Travis Belgrave led all scorers in the win with 22 points, six rebounds and five assists while Kwasi Thompson registered 11 points and seven rebounds.
Daniel Anthony led the Linden unit with figures of 19 points and five rebounds. In the U-14 section, Kwakwani Secondary crushed St. Stanislaus 33-10. Isaiah David netted eight points and grabbed nine rebounds in the win while Asher Grannum contributed six points and 14 rebounds.
The final game of the division witnessed Marian Academy defeat Bishops’ High by a 20-10 score line. Josiah Daniels led the winners with nine points while Jahleel Young netted seven points and 19 rebounds. Webster McRae led the losers with six points and eight rebounds.
