Just under a month after being the victim of a crime, Delroy Parks yesterday found himself facing armed robbery charges.
Parks, 28, of Kilmar-nock Village, Corentyne was charged with two counts of armed robbery at the Whim Magistrate’s Court.
Appeared before presiding Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh, he was charged with robbing Alisha Drepaul Hoyte and Andre Hoyte on July 5th, 2014, at Kilmarnock Village, Corentyne, while being armed with a gun. It is alleged that he robbed Alisha Hoyte of a cellular phone, valued $140,000, a gold chain and two gold rings, valued $175,000 and that he robbed Andre Hoyte of a wristwatch, valued $40,000, and a silver bracelet, worth $20,000.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges but Police prosecutor Sergeant Phillip Sherriff told the court that bail should be refused on the grounds that the accused is a suspect in other armed robberies and he is likely to face additional charges.
As a result, bail was refused and Parks has been remanded to prison until August 13th.
Parks, on June 11th, was struck down by a driver who later struck and killed four other persons along the Corentyne. Parks, who was riding a bicycle at the time of the accident, was the first person to be struck down and sustained minor injuries to his head.
