Linden Technical Institute (LTI) walloped Bishops’ High School by a 42-20 score line when the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) 9th National School Basketball Festival (NSBF) continued at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Wednesday.
Terron Welch led the Linden offence with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Dennis Niles contributed an invaluable 15 points in the win. Marvin Durant scored 16 points while grabbing four rebounds and five steals.
In the U-16 section, Kwakwani Secondary beat Mackenzie High by a 52-47 score line. Kerrol Phillips led the winners with a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds. He was assisted by Kemmol Benjamin who registered 15 points, four rebounds and as many assists.
Leading the losers with a game high 20 points and 13 rebounds was Daniel Anthony. The second match-up in the division saw New Amsterdam Multilateral defeating President’s College 38-27. Ramone Fogenay recorded a double-double of 16 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. He was supported by Tafawa Daly who also recorded a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Anton Fileen led the East Coast Demerara side with 13 points and seven rebounds. In the final divisional match-up, Marian Academy defeated Plaisance Academy 48-37. Judah Stephney and Dwayne Obermuller led the winners with 17 and eight points respectively. Andrew Johnson netted a game-high 21 points inclusive of five three-pointers. In the U-14 section, Marian Academy crushed St Rose’s High 30-10. Jahleel Young led the losers with a double-double of 11 points and 25 rebounds while Joshua Brazao contributed six points, 10 rebounds and nine steals. Anthony Yansen netted six points and as many rebounds for the losers.
In the second match-up of the division, Kwakwani Secondary defeated Bishops’ High 25-14. Shaddai Sauers and Asher Grannum led the winners with seven and four points respectively while Michael Williams netted eight points and six rebounds in the loss.
